Pickup Truck Roof Top Tents for Dealers and Distributors
News Details
A pickup truck rooftop tent can give customers a sleeping area above the truck bed while leaving space underneath for gear. For dealers, the buying decision begins with what the truck already carries: a bed rack, a cover, storage drawers or other accessories. Each of these affects where the tent fits and how customers use it.
YoungHunter manufactures and exports outdoor equipment, including rooftop tents and vehicle awnings. We support brands and distributors who need to evaluate a product sample, plan a bulk order or develop a tent under their own brand.
Start With the Trucks and Racks Your Dealers Sell
List the truck model, model year, bed length and exact rack model for each proposed kit. Include photos and measurements of the crossbars and mounting points. Two trucks with the same bed length may still require different brackets.
Next, check the vehicle, rack and tent manufacturers’ instructions for the full setup. Confirm the applicable limits both while driving and while parked. Include the tent, mounting parts and other equipment in the load assessment. Use the approved mounting hardware and follow the instructions for that specific combination.
Turn the results into a simple fit guide. Give each approved combination its own entry with the tent model, rack model, bracket code and any fit restrictions. Your dealers can then verify an order against the guide before shipping it.
Check Bed Access With the Tent Open and Closed
A low bed rack may suit customers who want to minimize overall vehicle height. A taller rack may provide more space for cargo underneath. Measure the full vehicle height with the tent closed, then check the space it needs when open.
Run through a typical camping setup. Can the customer open the tailgate, pull out a drawer and reach the ladder? If the truck uses a bed cover, check whether it still rolls or folds as intended. Also check cab clearance and the space next to the vehicle for ladder access.
These checks give buyers a better basis for choosing the opening design and rack height.
Compare Tent Designs on the Truck
Our expandable hard-shell rooftop tent, model XSOD-RT0305, uses an ABS shell and gas struts to assist opening. Its product listing includes a 5 cm mattress and a 2.3 m telescopic ladder.
For an expandable model, ask for the open and closed drawings. Check which sections extend beyond the rack, where the ladder lands and how much usable sleeping space the setup provides. Then open and pack the sample on the truck to confirm that the design works with the rest of the equipment.
Our truck roof tent supply case shows how a pickup accessory brand started with racks its dealers already sold and used that list to guide bracket selection.
Approve One Complete Dealer Kit Before Ordering
Fit a sample using the parts that will ship with the order. Compare it with the proposed packing list and check whether the installation guide identifies every bracket and fastener.
If you plan to sell more than one mounting kit, give each version its own part code. Mark the hardware bag and carton so staff can identify them at a glance. This is especially useful when two kits look similar but fit different racks.
Next, confirm what the dealer will receive with each tent. State whether the ladder, mattress, mounting hardware and other items come with the model or require a separate order.
Plan OEM Options and Repeat Supply
YoungHunter’s OEM and ODM services include product concepts, prototypes, artwork, custom logos and packaging. For a pickup tent line, begin by agreeing on the tent and rack combinations. Then review colors, brand marks, carton labels and the parts list on the sample.
Before placing a bulk order, confirm the minimum quantity, sample terms, production schedule and carton size. Ask how to order spare mounting hardware, ladders or closure parts. For repeat orders, keep the approved sample details and part codes so your team can detect changes before the next batch ships.
Request a Pickup Truck Roof Tent Quote
